13. Velarde Tower

Located at the top of Canton Street, it responds to the Gothic tower-house model. It was built by García de Velarde in the mid-15th century, the ancestor of Alonso de Velarde, who built the Palacio de las Arenas a century later.

It has a plant in the shape of square and, at least, three heights. The main facade, towards the street of the Carrera, presents two doors in pointed arch, -a boarded-. On the upper floor there are two conopial openings. The rear facade also two doors, one of them Gothic, currently hidden by a volume attached in the seventeenth century to close the square.
